Dag M-1559 is high temperature grease reinforced with a blend of graphite and
molybdenum disulphide and is used for the lubrication of tools, dies and containers in
extrusion and forging processes. Dag M-1559 has been formulated for swab application in
the extrusion of copper, steel and other metals, but also offers advantages during other
processes where high pressures and temperatures at the metal/tool interface lead to
breakdown of normal lubricants.
Benefits :
- reduces die and tool wear and thus decreases down time
- increased extrusion ratios can be employed without lubricant failure
- coats tools up to 450ºC
- permits increased output
- minimises pick-up and improves concentricity
- ideal for multi-hole practice
- does not run down hot surfaces and thus coatings remain in the working area
Applications :
- horizontal and vertical extrusion of copper based alloys
- steel forging
- forging and extrusion of refractory metals such as titanium
- hot forging of difficult-to-form components
- hot drawing of mild steel tube
- pressing of steel plates
- swaging of steel tubes
